A Touching Message from the Author, Anne Belliveau-LeBlanc
Duke, a deeply endearing dog, came into my life at a time when I profoundly needed him, as I was trying to overcome long COVID. My daughter and her partner adopted a puppy named Duke. Since they were working, I decided to dog-sit him, having no idea how much he was about to transform my daily life. I had never really experienced life with a pet before, but a very strong bond quickly formed between us.
Duke taught me to slow down, to live in the present moment, to listen to the birds, to go outside more, and to rediscover a sense of joy in the small things of everyday life. He was there during the happy moments as well as the most difficult ones. Through his presence, he brought me comfort, a listening ear, and also plenty of laughs since he is so funny.
As a former high school nurse in New Brunswick, I have seen the benefits of therapeutic dogs for young people dealing with anxiety, sadness, or simply needing a little comfort.
This collection was born from this precious bond with Duke and the desire to share with everyone the gentleness, love, and well-being that animals can bring into our lives. It features real stories experienced by Duke, and the photos used are genuine pictures taken from his daily life, making this collection authentic, touching, and captivating.
